When the Excel was launched it was a breath of fresh air for those that wanted a new generation anchor without a roll bar, the Excel has great aesthetics and will enhance the bow of any boat, unlike roll bar designs the
Excel will fit just about any anchor housing arrangement—pull pit and bow roller designs, the Excel caters for boats from the smallest run a bout to large ocean going work boats, yachts and trawlers. When comparing the
Sarca Excel to other anchor designs it is traditional in looks only, when it comes to performance there is no comparison.
The Sarca Excel is a certified Super High Holding Power anchor, it has a cast filled ballast to ensure self righting, it is a new design of 70 percent convex, 30 percent concave, part of this concave being the cutting edges.
Excel is not a plough anchor there are no plough sheers, in their place is what are called single plain concave flukes, this being the greater part of its concave arrangement, rather than plough the substrate this new fluke arrangement is designed to compress, then directs the material-substrate over the rear of the Excel forcing itself deeper as more load is applied.
As a world first, the steel Excel version has a stainless steel cutting toe in combination with a steel fluke, this toe is not unlike the original Super Sarca toe in its shape, turned down giving instant penetration, it can be sharpened for weed or hard substrate types, being of stainless the cutting edges do not rust, all of the above makes the Excel possibly the deepest diving anchor on the market allowing incredible performance in heavy weed and many sea bed types
The Excel with its combination of convex –concave design has apertures along the sides of its flukes, whilst the anchor is being set these apertures allow water to be dragged through, this further aides the movement of compressed sea bed and assists the deep setting in hard mud or clay, these apertures work in reverse on retrieval and helps to bring up a relatively clean Excel on retrieval. With its shank being of bisaloy 80 or equivalent the build strength from the number four anchor and up of the Excel is exceptional, the bulbous on the underside of the toe aids in the Excel turning through wind and tide changes.
Features:
Tangle resistant.
Low centre of gravity self rights and keeps the toe hunting continuously to take advantage of the ocean floor.
Full range of anchors have been tested for super high holding power certification.

A beautiful anchor that is so well thought out. Great to see Australia leading the way in anchor design. The clever features of these anchors too numerous to list.

I have two boats…and now two Sarca Excel anchors. Initially installed a #3 on a (heavy) 7m rig after experiencing dragging issues with a plough. The Excel snags tight everytime and comes up clean near 100% of the time. The anchor handles 180 degree swings in high winds and high tide current without any noticeable slippage. We do a lot of over nighters in the shallow muddy water around Sth Stradbroke and after dropping the Excel, I always sleep tight.
Because the #3 performed so well, I installed a #1 on a 5m runabout. Like it’s larger brother it holds very well…..but the 900 kg rig isn’t really a challenge to snag.
    Happy anchoring….

This anchor is excellent, holds well, provides confidence that the boat won’t drag it’s anchor, highly recommend.
